Presidential Report: 2^nd June 2020

We have started to see some good take-up of the opportunities being offered to our churches for this year. In addition to online meetings that have kindly been arranged with regional team leaders and ministers in their region, we have the encouraging figures showing current uptake of the opportunities in this presidential year. We hope to continue to track both the progress and outcomes. Most regional team leaders have a realistic expectation that some of these projects will take more than a year to accomplish. There is clearly a real hunger for pioneering in our movement and any ideas or suggestions about capitalising on it that can be shared across all team leaders would be really helpful for the movement.

I am so excited about the courage and sense of adventure that exists in our Baptist movement. This is who we are, it is in our DNA and I am so excited about what is going to come out of this. In Reading we are exploring a couple of these initiatives as a Cluster and have settled on pursuing two of them.

Below is a brief report on progress as of 2nd June.

Overview

We have 67 people signed up to one or more of the following 8 initiatives, which includes 51 people from different churches & 2 regional team leaders Please don’t forget to sign up to one of our adventures here

The initiatives are:

• Community/Social Action
• A Healing Approach
• Art in Evangelism
• Family Witnessing
• The Turning England
• Millennials & Gen Z
• An Evangelistic Evening with The President

Monthly Coaching Sessions

We are holding mutual coaching sessions once a month for those interested in Pioneering, Social Action, Healing, Art & Family.  We held the first of these on Monday 1^st & Tuesday 2^nd June.  Out of the 67 people who have signed up, 45% have engaged in one or more of the coaching sessions so far.

Social Action

• 21 people have signed up to this initiative
• 6 people attended the 1^st coaching session & we received 1 apology

Healing

• 24 people have signed up to this initiative, including
• 2 regions
• 2 clusters
• 20 individual churches
• 2 people attended the 1^st coaching session & we received 1 apology

• 17 people have signed up to this initiative
• 3 people attended the 1^st coaching session & we received 1 apology

Family

• 37 people have signed up to this initiative
• 5 people attended the 1^st coaching session & we received 1 apology

The Turning England

• This will now take place in September 2021
• 19 churches/regions have signed up to this initiative

Millennials

• This is being led by Pastor Mark Hirst from Willesborough Baptist Church
• 29 people have signed up for this initiative
• An event is being organised for up to 1000 people in March 2021 

An Evangelistic Evening with The President

• 20 people have signed up for this event
• We are encouraging churches to gather in clusters for this
• Dates will be organised for events once the lockdown has been lifted sufficiently
